SINGING SALON
Singing Salon is for classically trained, operatic soloists who, whilst having their own teachers, wish to develop their musical, dramatic and performance skills under the tutelage of mezzo-soprano, Pippa Dames-Longworth and her colleagues. For able and experienced amateur singers and would be professional singers, this is an opportunity to be cast in ensembles, often operatic, but also from the worlds of song and oratorio, that both suit the individual singer and give them the chance to sing some of the greatest ensembles in the repertoire. We work diligently and with care but also have great fun. The nine Singing Salon Saturdays also lead to a performance or two throughout the year. Pippa intends that Singing Salon works in a generous and supportive atmosphere, in which each singer is equally valued.
There are nine Salon Saturdays throughout the year - five from February to June and four from September to December. We normally start at 11am and end at 4pm and have a homemade lunch in the middle of the day.

The venue is a few miles north of Lewes, East Sussex and an hour from London. The individual singers come from far and wide and so we may be able to arrange a lift from London/ West Country etc. Occasionally it is possible to offer an extra place and so if you are interested in joining the group, please contact Pippa. It is not essential to commit to every date and this can be arranged informally.

Pippa devises and directs each Saturday and also invites high level professionals to work with the group. Colleagues have included the choreographer/director, Clare Whistler; tenor, Adrian Thompson; director, Ian Rutherford; the broadcaster and musicologist, Richard Wigmore; music theatre specialist, Will Pool; tenor, Brian Parsons, along with instrumentalists and recording engineers.
