Develop your love of singing with
SINGING SALON
Singing Salon is for classically trained, operatic soloists who, whilst having their own teachers, wish to develop their musical, dramatic and performance skills under the tutelage of mezzo-soprano, Pippa Dames-Longworth and her colleagues. For able and experienced amateur singers and would be professional singers, this is an opportunity to be cast in ensembles, often operatic, but also from the worlds of song and oratorio, that both suit the individual singer and give them the chance to sing some of the greatest ensembles in the repertoire. We work diligently and with care but also have great fun. The nine Singing Salon Saturdays also lead to a performance or two throughout the year. Pippa intends that Singing Salon works in a generous and supportive atmosphere, in which each singer is equally valued.

TITANIA (Purcell and contemporaries)
A 35 minute, baroque ‘vignette’, comprising glorious melodies from William Boyce, Thomas Arne and of course, Henry Purcell. A plethora of baroque shepherds and shepherdesses - sheep! - and the Fairy King and Queen, Titania and Oberon.

HANSEL AND GRETEL (Humperdinck)
A 40 minute version, abridged and devised by Pippa, costumed and staged. Accompanied by 'Piano in a basket' and Clarinet. An outdoor, immersive version that takes the audience on a journey into the woods following the antics of Hansel and Gretel as they meet the Dew Fairy, Sandman and of course the Witch! A world of forests, echoes, birdgirls in trees…. Can be performed in gardens - woods and forests!
THE MAGIC FLUTE (Mozart)
A 40 minute version of one of the most loved operas of all time, abridged and devised by Pippa, costumed and staged, and accompanied by piano and a flautist (playing Mozart!). The Queen of the Night, her beautiful daughter and beloved Papageno - can good triumph over evil?
CAFÉ MOMUS (from Puccini's La Bohème)
An immersive twenty minutes shared with the lovestruck Mimi and Rodolfo, the outrageous Musetta and her lovers and the glorious and deeply loved music of Puccini.
OPERATIC ADVENTURES!

A CHRISTMAS PARLOUR
A traditional Victorian Christmas evening of festive tales, sing along carols and some of the most beautiful music ever written for the voice, along with Dickens' A Christmas Carol , Joyce Grenfell and Queen Victoria herself.
