Singing Salon is extremely excited to be collaborating with The Horsham Symphony Orchestra for the first time.  

 

We invite you to an Opera Gala, comprising some of the most thrilling and loved arias and ensembles from the operatic repertoire.  The concert will be introduced by Pippa and conducted by Steve Dummer.

Do come and join us in The Capitol Theatre in Horsham on Sunday, October 19th at 3pm for a joyous afternoon of entertainment.

We've had a marvellous time preparing both of these concerts and are very much looking forward to performing them.

We are thrilled to have been asked to perform as the final concert of The Shoreham WordFest Festival on Sunday, 12th October at 7.30pm.  We will be singing a fabulous  selection of ensembles, songs and arias, all introduced by Pippa and accompanied by Nicholas Bosworth.

The performance will be at The Shoreham Centre in Pond Road. Shoreham-by-Sea, BN43 5WU and we do hope you will join us!

 

The memories of our performances of 'Midsummer Magic' for 'The Villages Music Festival' in Chalvington last year - a performance devised by Pippa and accompanied by Nicholas Bosworth, in which the audience follow the action throughout the gorgeous gardens of Limekiln Farm - are still vivid in our minds. 

We made an extra performances for children in the afternoon and the sun shone for the evening performance, which was fun, magical and a great success.  

It went rather like this.... 
When Hansel and Gretel are thrown out into the forest by their exasperated mother to look for strawberries, they find that the forest is full of new friends, including Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and a Witch...or two! We meet the Sandman, ’Night’ herself and even Shakespeare’s Falstaff!  With music such as the exquisite ‘Evening Prayer’ from Humperdinck’s ‘Hansel and Gretel, the playful and tuneful ‘Into the Woods’ from Stephen Sondheim’s famous musical, the gloriously beautiful and atmospheric music of Henry Purcell’s ‘Fairy Queen’ and the fabulous melodies and wit of Verdi’s ‘Falstaff’, it was lovely to perform.

 

 Of our many projects in the last years, our online 40 min production - 'FIGARO AT A DISTANCE' - conceived and edited by the wonderful director, Ian Rutherford was a high point.  As well as exploring Handel ensembles, Kurt Weill, oratorio, Schubert and Schumann song cycles and a wide range of duets, trios and arias.
